Behavior of Seniors:
As we have shared ideas about the graduation ceremony, it is easy to see that there are many different opinions about what is appropriate behavior for members of the senior class during the ceremony and also what is acceptable behavior for the members of the audience. Most parents seem to be of the opinion that a few students should not interrupt or draw attention away from performers or from the senior who is receiving a diploma on stage. Most parents feel they do not want an embarrassing experience for relatives and friends. We hope that all students and parents will honor the wishes of the majority and help create a “ceremony” that is in keeping with the dignity of the occasion.
Audience Behavior:
We ask that all family members and members of the audience help keep the ceremony in good taste. Please do not bring horns and other items that might interrupt the graduation ceremony into the auditorium. All students deserve to have their friend and family members hear their name as it is read. All students who are performing a song or a speech deserve to be heard by everyone in the audience.
Diplomas:
Students will be able to pick up their diplomas from the OHS Office from May 16th – May 31st. Students must take care of all obligations before the graduation ceremony.
Questions:
If any parent or student has questions about the information presented in this letter or about the graduation ceremony, please email Jason Wilson at jwilson@usd392.com as soon as possible. We want to do everything possible to make sure that years from now, this graduation day is a day that we can all look back on with pride.
Sincerely,
Jason Wilson
