Osborne Junior High School competed at the Rock Hills Scholars Bowl on Monday, January 22, 2024 in
Mankato. With wrestling and basketball still in season the team was comprised of team members not
participating in those activities. Also due to limited numbers, only one team, the varsity, competed for
OJH. The team consisted of seventh graders Ben Schultz and Libbie Carlin alongside eighth graders Olivia
Mans, EmaLeigh Swindler, and Taryn Ellenz.
Round one had OJH starting the event off well with a 60 to 0 win over Pike Valley. Round two found the
Bullpups on the losing end to Rock Hills 1 by a score of 20 to 50. Bouncing back in round three the
Bullpups pulled off a tie breaker against Republic County winning 60-50. Round four ended up a loss
against Tescott by a score of 40 to 70. The fifth and final round against the Rock Hills 2 team also ended
in defeat 15-30. Those scoring for the Bullpups were Ben scoring 90, Olivia with 60, EmaLeigh scoring
35, and Taryn rounding out the scoring with 10.
The Bullpups will be back in action with two full teams at the Pike Trail League Meet in Downs on
Monday, February 5 th starting at 1:00 PM. Currently on the schedule are: Tescott on February 12 th ,
Stockton on February 26 th and Hill City on February 27 th .
